Two teenage boys drowned while swimming in the Lazer River in Daykundi Province on Friday afternoon, local sources reported.
The victims were identified as Sayed Esmail and Sayed Ezatullah, both 17 years old. They were retrieved from the water by villagers and taken to their families.
The Taliban security command in Daykundi confirmed the incident but did not provide any further details.
This is not the first time that young people have drowned in the Daykundi rivers. In recent years, there have been several similar incidents.
