Taliban detains son and nephew of former army commander in Parwan

Local sources in Jabal Saraj district of Parwan province have confirmed to KabulNow that the Taliban have detained the son and nephew of a former army commander.

The Taliban, a source said, had detained the men in order to obtain information on the whereabouts of the commander, who has gone into hiding since the Taliban returned to power.

Local Taliban officials did not respond to KabulNow’s request for clarification.

Despite announcing a “general amnesty” in the days after taking control of Kabul, the Taliban has carried hundreds of arrests, torture and extrajudicial killings of former members of the Afghan military and government employees.

On Monday, the Taliban detained a former Afghan army personnel in Kabul.

According to sources, Mohammad Islam, a native of Panjshir province, had been fired from his position in the Afghan army before the Taliban’s recapture of power.
