Najibullah, a crime officer at Herat’s PD5, was killed in a gun battle with armed robbers in the western Herat province, a local security official confirmed.
Abdul Ahad Walizada, spokesperson for Herat police, said the incident took place on Saturday evening, July 03.
The police forces and the armed robbers engaged in crossfires after the robbers fled the area they looted along the Mehri High School Street in PD5 of Herat city, the local officials detailed.
According to Walizada, two robbers were killed and another one was wounded in clashes against police forces.
The policemen have seized weapons and ammunitions from the robbers. The local official also said the armed robbers were involved in many cases of armed robbery and security disturbance in the city.
Armed robberies are a serious concern for Herat residents who have repeatedly called on security forces to ensure security and contain the increasing criminal acts in the city.
