18-Year-Old Man Stabbed to Death in Western Kabul

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – An 18-year-old man has been stabbed to death in the Regration area of Dasht-e Barchi, in western Kabul, with a local resident suggesting robbery may have been the motive.

The victim, identified as Ali Abbas Khanzada, was attacked at around 6 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, in Jafariya Alley, First Street, in the Regration area, according to a resident who shared the information with KabulNow. He died from blood loss following the stabbing.

The source said the victim’s mobile phone and money were stolen during the incident, suggesting that robbery may have been the motive for the killing.

According to the resident, only one attacker was involved, and security camera footage reportedly showed a person wearing bloodstained clothes. The source added that several similar thefts involving mobile phones and money had previously been reported in the area where Khanzada was killed.

A similar incident was reported in Nangarhar province on October 8, when armed robbers shot and killed a baker named Sultan inside his shop in Jalalabad, escaping with cash and his motorcycle. The incident adds to reports of robbery-related killings in Afghanistan.

The killings come amid continued reports of violent crime across Afghanistan, despite repeated claims by Taliban authorities that security has improved under their rule. Reports of killings, robberies and the discovery of bodies continue to emerge from various provinces.

Recent reports from Kabul indicate that residents in several neighborhoods have raised concerns about robberies and other violent crimes. In September 2026, residents of Kabul’s eighth district reported repeated home robberies, while residents of western Kabul said in April that rising crime had prompted them to organize informal neighborhood patrols.

These accounts highlight continuing public concerns about personal safety and the effectiveness of law enforcement under Taliban rule.
