Government employee shot dead in Kabul

Unknown gunmen shot dead government employee in Kabul

Unknown armed men assassinated a government employee in Paghman district of Kabul last night, Saturday, April 24, Kabul police confirmed.

The incident took place in Qala-e-Ahmad area of Paghman district around 08:00 PM, Ferdaws Faramarz, spokesperson for Kabul Police Chief, told Kabul Now. He went on to identify the victim as Qari Fawad, adding that he was a civil servant of the government.

Some media reported that the man was an employee with the Administrative Office of the President.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Afghanistan, particularly the capital Kabul, has seen a growing trend in targeted killing ever since the US-Taliban peace deal was struck in Doha, capital of Qatar, on February 29, 2020. The attacks have claimed scores of lives, including civilians.

Though most of the attacks go unclaimed, the government officials blame the Taliban for such attacks.

In the most recent case, unknown armed men gunned down four military personnel in Paghman district and a university lecturer in Kabul city earlier in the morning on Saturday, April 24.
