Operatives of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) have arrested a key member of the Islamic State Khurasan Province (ISKP) for Pachiragam district of Nangarhar province along with nine other suspects, according to a local official.
The key ISKP member arrested was in charge of recruitment for the group in the area, said the local official.
The NDS 02 unit operatives arrested them in a search operation conducted last night, Friday, April 02, in Landi Pachir area of Pachciragam district, said Attaullah Khogyani, the spokesperson for Nangarhar governor.
Zilawar known as Shah Mahmood was in charge of recruitment for the ISKP and he was arrested by NDS operatives, Mr. Khogyani said.
As per his account, the security forces have also seized some weapons and ammunition of the terrorist group.
Situated in the eastern part of the country, Nangarhar is a volatile province where the ISKP terrorist group keeps a foothold and occasionally launches attacks targeting government employees or civilian targets.
The Afghan government has apparently intensified a crackdown on the ISKP terrorists in Nangarhar arresting and killing its members in different parts of the province.
