Former Taliban member and four members of his family killed in Nangarhar

Unknown gunmen killed a former Taliban member along with four members of his family in Nangarhar province, a local official said on Tuesday, April 27.

Ziaulhaq Amarkhel, the governor for Nangarhar, said the incident took place last night, April 26, in Sada area of Lalpoor district.

Tafseer Khan, a former member of the Taliban group, along with four members of his family including his brother were killed by unknown gunmen.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Kabul Now’s reporter in Nangarhar said that unknown gunmen opened fire at them right after they had finished Tarawih prayer and were on their way home.

Three members of the family were wounded, the governor said, noting that an investigation is underway to catch the perpetrators.

On April 17, eight members of a single-family were shot dead while they were performing Tarawih prayer in Jalalabad city. The victim’s family had an unsettled dispute with a rival family who was said to be behind the murder.
