Operatives of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) have arrested five members of the Islamic State Khurasan Province (ISKP) and killed two others when they started to resist the arrest operation in the eastern Nangarhar province, according to a local official.
The operation was conducted last night, Friday, March 26, by the 02 unit of the NDS operatives in Ghanikhel district, said Attaullah Khogyani, spokesperson for Nangahar governor.
He added that Arabistan, also known as Saudi, who is the ISKP’s in-charge of plotting targeted killing,s and another ISKP’s prominent member known as Naeemullah are also among the arrested terrorists.
A number of different weapons and ammunition have also been seized during the operation, the local official further said.
The local residents, however, have claimed that the arrested people are all civilians, not the ISKP members.
