Rise in murders no sign of abating as two killed in Nangarhar and Takhar

Two people were killed in separate incidents in Nangarhar and Takhar provinces on Sunday.

In Nangarhar, a shopkeeper named Wakil Ahmad was shot dead by unknown assailants in Landa Puch area of Kama district. The motive behind the killing is unknown.

In Takhar’s Khwaja Bahauddin district, a farmer was killed by his brother-in-law over a land dispute. Taliban’s local media head, Mobeen Safi, confirmed the incident and said that one person has been detained in connection with the case.

This comes just two days after the killing of a 55-year-old man named Mohammad Afzal by unknown gunmen in Takhar’s Khwaja Ghar district.

The surge in murders have raised concerns about the security situation in Afghanistan. The Taliban has been struggling to maintain order since it took control of the country in August 2021.
