Former army soldier shot dead in Jabul Saraj district of Parwan province

Local sources have confirmed to KabulNow that a former Afghanistan national army officer has been shot dead in the Jabul Saraj district of Parwan province.

A source told KabulNow that, the victim, identified as Salem, was killed on Sunday night when he was heading home from a mosque in the Sher Baqi Khel village of the district.

His body, the source said, was taken to a local hospital.

The motives behind the former soldier’s murder remains unknown, and local Taliban officials have not commented.

The Taliban has been widely accused by human rights groups of arbitrary detentions, torture, and extrajudicial killings of former soldiers and those who worked for the previous government.

The group has also been accused of detention and extrajudicial killings of members and people associated to opposition groups the National Resistance Front (NRF) and Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF).
