Unknown assailants killed a former soldier in front of his house in Zazai Aryob district of eastern Paktia province on Friday night. Local sources reported.
According to sources, Qamar Gul, who previously served in the security forces, had been farming after the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan.
The incident is yet another case of targeted killing that has plagued Afghanistan in recent years, with dozens of former soldiers being mysteriously killed since the Taliban’s ascent to power.
So far, no one has claimed responsibility for Qamar Gul’s killing, and the Taliban officials in Paktia province have remained silent on the matter.
