Death Toll Rises to 19 in Samangan’s Suicide Attack, UNAMA

The deadly explosion inside the Al-Jihad religious madrassa in Aybak city of northern Samangan on Wednesday afternoon, November 30 left more than ten people dead and dozens wounded, the Taliban Ministry of Interior confirmed.

The Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), on the other hand, says that according to their findings, the explosion left at least 19 people dead and 23 wounded.

UNAMA stated via a tweet on Thursday, December 1 that 20 children are among the dead and wounded. The sources also confirmed that most of the victims are madrassa students.

UNAMA expressed their condolences and sympathized with the victims’ families and said that this attack needs to be investigated and perpetrators need to be prosecuted.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack as of yet. Some countries and international organizations have condemned this attack.
