Pakistani and UAE Envoys Discuss Security Situation in Afghanistan

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – Mohammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s special envoy for Afghanistan, says he met with his Emirati counterpart, Saif Mohammed Al Ketbi, to discuss the shifting regional dynamics and rising security concerns.

The meeting took place today (April 14) in Islamabad, Sadiq said in a post on X.

“We had in-depth discussion on the evolving geopolitical landscape and rising security concerns, with particular focus on Afghanistan,” he wrote, adding he would continue engagement for a peaceful region.

He did not share further details about the Afghanistan-specific segment of the talks.

According to Sadiq, the two envoys also exchanged views on broader regional challenges and underscored their shared commitment to confronting them together.

Prior to his visit to Pakistan, Al Ketbi traveled to Kabul, where he met with senior Taliban officials.

Among his meetings was a discussion with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s acting foreign minister, focusing on bilateral ties, trade, and transit.
