Local sources in Kabul city have reported that the Taliban intelligence agents arrested a businessman from Panjshir province in Kabul on Wednesday morning.
The businessman, identified as Jamal Nazari, was arrested in the second district of Kabul city. His family is not aware of his fate and is worried about his situation.
According to sources, Nazari was not politically active and before the Taliban takeover, he owned a restaurant in Anaba district of Panjshir province. After the Taliban turned his restaurant into a military base, he moved to Kabul and was living a normal life.
The Taliban officials have not yet commented on the incident.
The arrest is the latest in a series of crackdowns by the Taliban on residents of Panjshir province. Since the Taliban took over Afghanistan in August 2021, there have been numerous reports of arbitrary arrests, torture, and killings of civilians in the province.
Human rights reports suggest that the Taliban’s widespread retaliation against residents of Panjshir and the violation of gross human rights amount to war crimes.
