UK appoints Robert Chatterton Dickson as new Chargé d’Affaires for Afghanistan

The UK government has appointed Robert Chatterton Dickson as the country’s new Chargé d’Affaires ad interim for Afghanistan.

In a statement on Friday, the UK Foreign, Common and Development Office (FCDO) said that Dickson replaces Hugo Shorter, whose tenure ended in February.

The UK closed its embassy in Afghanistan following the Taliban’s return to power in August and set up a Diplomatic Mission in Doha, Qatar.

Dickson, the FCDO said, will take his appointment in July. He has previously served as British High Commissioner in Dhaka.
