Man shot dead by unknown gunmen in Sar-e-Pol province

Taliban police have confirmed that a man was shot dead by unknown gunmen in the northern Sar-e-Pol province on Tuesday night.

According to a statement by Taliban police in the province, the man identified as 60-year-old Ramazan was killed when unknown assailants dragged him out of his home and opened fire at him in Mirza Olang village in Sayyad district.

The motive behind the killing is unclear.

Violent crimes have surged in recent years across the country where civilians are murdered often under mysterious circumstances and with impunity.

Last week, a woman sustained injuries and her newborn was killed in northern Jowzjan province when unknown gunmen opened fire at them. Earlier, a pregnant woman was stabbed to death by her stepson in the western Herat province.
