Taliban detains former general from a mosque in Kabul

Taliban Intelligence agents have detained a former general of the Afghan army in the previous government.

Sources have confirmed to KabulNow that Hussian Khan Sangin, who served at the former government’s spy agency, the NDS, was arrested at the Khair Khana neighbourhood of Kabul on Monday.

Hassan Khan Sangin, original from Panjshir, where the anti-Taliban groups the National Resistance Front has been engaged in fighting with the Taliban, was taken away from a mosque where he was offering prayers, a source said.

The reasons for the former general’s detention is unknown and his family has not been told of his whereabouts.

The Taliban has routinely detained, tortured and killed former members of the Afghan security forces, according to rights groups.
