A former judge and cleric was killed by unknown assailants on Saturday night in the capital of Ghor province, locals say.
A source told KabulNow that the victim, identified as Muhammad Nazir Mawnavi, was killed when he was returning from a mosque in district 4th in Ferozkoh city of Baghlan.
This source also added that Mawnavi, who worked as a judge in the province’s appeal court under the former government, had lost this job following the takeover of the province by the Taliban.
The motivation behind the former judge’s killing is unknown and no suspect has been arrested so far.
Abdul Wahed Hamas, Taliban spokesperson in Ghor, did not respond to Kabul Now’s probe into Mawnawi’s death.
On Friday, another cleric was killed by unknown assailants in Baghlan’s Nahrian district.
