The Taliban detained three residents of northeastern Panjshir province including two former soldiers in Kabul on Wednesday. Local sources confirmed.
According to sources, the Taliban arrested Baryalay, a young man who was a policeman in the previous government, last week. When Baryalay’s father visited the Intelligence Department to inquire about the reason for his son’s arrest, the Taliban detained him as well.
Sources added that Baryalay’s father was a civilian with no military service in the past and there is still no information about the fate of this father and son.
Additionally, the Taliban have arrested Najib, a national security employee of the former government from Kabul city, who is originally from Panjshir province. Najib was apprehended last week and is now under Taliban custody. according to the source, he previously worked with the National Security Directorate in Paghman district of the capital Kabul.
The motive for the arrest of these individuals has yet to be disclosed, and the Taliban have not issued any statements on this matter.
Panjshir province has been the center of conflict between the armed anti-Taliban group, the National Resistance Front, and the Taliban for more than a year and a half. During this time, the Taliban detained and imprisoned several former soldiers and civilians on allegations of working with the armed front or possessing weapons.
