Former Soldier Dies under Taliban Torture in Kabul

A former soldier, an original resident of Pol-i-Hesar area of Andarab district in the southern part of Baghlan province died under Taliban torture in Kabul, a local source confirmed to Kabul Now.

The local source identified the victim as Shir Ahmad Shirzad. The Taliban arrested him on Monday, December 12 from his residential place in Kabul on the charge of cooperation with the National Resistance Front (NRF). He died under severe Taliban torture and his family received his dead body yesterday afternoon, December 13.

For the past one year after the Taliban takeover, Shir Ahmad was residing in Kabul and had no anti-Taliban activity against the group, two local sources in Baghlan told Kabul Now.

Taliban have not commented on this incident as of yet.

The Taliban have arrested tens of Panjshir residents in recent months on charges of cooperation with NRF.

In the latest case, in northern Baghlan, the Taliban detained eleven NRF members in this province.
