All Afghans Deserve Freedom, Equality and Dignity, Says UNAMA

The United Nations Assistance Mission (UNAMA) in Kabul tweeted today, December 1, stating that all Afghans deserve freedom, equality, and dignity. UNAMA stated this as Human Rights Day is approaching, which marks the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). Human Rights Day is celebrated annually around the world on December 10 every year.

Afghanistan has signed the UDHR manifesto. Every declaration article should be respected, UNAMA stated in the tweet.

UNAMA has posted the first article of the UDHR declaration, which states, “I am born free and equal and all human beings should be treated in the same way.”

Afghanistan has faced human rights crisis since the Taliban returned to power.

Since the return of the Taliban to power in August 2021, girls and women have been deprived of their basic rights. The group has imposed severe restrictions on women and girls. Currently, girls above the 6th grade are not allowed to go to school, and female employees can no longer work in government offices.
