The Taliban forces have arrested and imprisoned Ahmad Mayel Rahnaward, a civil activist and a resident of Panjshir province, for more than two months now, a source confirmed to Kabul Now late on Tuesday, November 08.
Ahmad Mayel Rahnaward tried helping poor families in their area in Panjshir province, in the northeastern part of the country, through fundraising outside Afghanistan, the source added.
The Taliban arrested Rahnaward because he distributed the donated money to the needy people without coordinating with the Taliban group, the source clarified.
Rahnaward would not be released soon if his arrest case is reported to the media, the Taliban have warned Rahnaward’s family.
There is no news about his fate, the source further said.
Rahnaward was engaged in civic and cultural activities in Panjshir and Kabul provinces during the previous government.
He holds a master’s degree in law. In the upcoming days, he was supposed to travel to Iran to continue his doctoral studies.
