Afghan security forces repel Taliban attack in Sar e Pul

The Afghan security and defense forces have repelled Taliban attack mounted to take control over central prison in Sar e Pul, a security source told Kabul Now.  

Noor Aqa Faizi, the spokesperson for Sar e Pul police, said the Taliban mounted attacks last night, August 02, but the government forces pushed them back from Sar e Pul.  

According to him, seven Taliban militants were killed and five others were wounded during the clashes.

The Taliban has not yet commented on the incident.

Located in northern part of the country, Sar e Pul is an insecure province where the Taliban controls swaths of territories.
