District police headquarter came under Taliban attack in Baghlan

Police headquarter of Baghlan-e-Markazi came under Taliban attack after a car bomb detonated its explosives, killing four people and wounding 28 others in the district, a local security source said today, Tuesday, June 01.

Jawid Basharat, the spokesperson for Baghlan police, said the incident took place around 6:00 PM last night, May 31. Three soldiers and one civilian were among those killed, and 20 civilians and eight forces are among those wounded, he added.

According to Mr. Basharat, five Taliban militants were killed and seven others were wounded in clashes erupted between the Taliban and security forces.

The Taliban, however, claimed 41 people including commandos were killed and a number of others were wounded in a car bomb attack in Baghlan.

Zabehllah Mujahid, a spokesperson for the Taliban, said the Taliban’s attack was carried out in retaliation to recent operations launched by security and defense forces in the province.

Located in the northeastern part of the country, Baghlan is a volatile province where the Taliban control swathes of territories including large parts of Baghlan-e-Markazi district.
