Afghan forces push Taliban attacks back in Badakhshan

The Afghan security and defense forces have pushed back Taliban attacks in the northeastern Badakhshan province, a local source said.

Nik Mohammad Nazari, the spokesperson for the Badakhshan governor, said that the Afghan security and defense forces repelled Taliban attacks in Yaftal e Payin, Darayem, Khash, Jurm, Worduj, and Raghestan districts, last night, May 23.

The Taliban carried out attacks with the assistance provided by foreign militants, according to the source.

More than ten militants were reportedly killed or wounded in the clashes erupted between the two sides and no causality is reported on the part of the government forces, the source said.

The Taliban has not made any comment in this regard so far.
