Three policemen killed in a blast in Herat

Three policemen lost their lives after a bomb went off in Zinda Jan district of the western Herat province, a local official said today, Saturday, April 17.

Sayed Abdul Wahid Qatali, Herat governor, confirmed that a car laden with explosives went off on Friday, April 16, at Bazarak checkpoint in Zinda Jan district.

The Taliban militants have launched attacks on Chesht, Obe, Kuhzur, Kashk Kuhne, Gulran, and Zindajan districts of the province, the governor added.

The group claimed responsibility for the attacks, claiming that they have killed five government forces.

A surge in targeted violence has increased in Afghanistan, particularly in Herat, since the US struck a peace deal with the Taliban in Doha.
