Gunmen kill police officer in Balkh

Unknown armed men have shot dead Mohammad Amin Saboor, a police education officer in the Marmal district of the northern Balkh province, according to a local official.

Talking to Kabul Now, Adel Shah Adel, the spokesperson for Balkh Police Chief, said that the incident took place last night, Wednesday, April 14, in Parwaz village of the district.

He added that a 12-year-old son of Mr. Saboor was also wounded in the attack.

According to Mr. Adel, the armed men, who were riding a motorcycle, managed to escape the area after opening fire at Mr. Saboor and his son.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Taliban militants have a presence in the district and sporadically launch attacks against government forces in other parts of the province.
