Abdul Rahim, the district police chief for Wazahkhawa district of Paktika, was killed in a clash that erupted between the Taliban and police forces, a local security official said today, Monday, April 25.
Shah Mohammad Arian, the spokesperson for the Paktika police chief, confirmed to Kabul Now that the accident took place last night in Marjan area of Wazahkhawa district. The Taliban militants ambushed the district police chief while he was on his car supplying logistics, according to the local official.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack, saying their fighters have killed Wazahkhawa district police chief and wounded two of his bodyguards.
Located in the southeastern part of the country, Paktika province is volatile where the Taliban militants control swathes of territory.
