Unknown armed men have “brutally” killed seven “Hazara” workers of a plaster factory in Surkhroad district of the eastern Nangarhar province, according to local officials.
The factory workers were reported from Bamyan province.
Attaullah Khogyani, the spokesperson for Nangarhar governor, told Kabul Now that the assailants have “brutally” killed the factory workers. The incident took place last night, Wednesday, March 03, in Bawli village of Surkhroad district.
Jumagul Hemmat, Nangarhar governor, told Kabul Now that the police forces have arrested four suspects in connection to the mass murder.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Ajmal Omer, the deputy head of Nangarhar Provincial Council, confirmed that slain factory workers were Hazaras. He said that fighters of the Islamic State Khurasan Province have tortured to death the seven Hazara factory workers.
President Ghani has condemned the act in a statement issued today, Thursday, March 04, indirectly blaming the Taliban. “The Taliban have proved once again by intensifying the violence that they do not believe in peace and are seeking to kill our innocent people,” the statement said.
As stated in the statement, he has ordered the local Nangarhar officials to identify and bring perpetrators of the deadly attack to justice.
