Helicopter crash kills nine in Maidan Wardak

Four crew members along with five security forces were killed after an army helicopter crashed in Maidan Wardak province, according to the Ministry of Defense (MoD).

The incident took place last night, Wednesday, March 18, in Behsud district of Maidan Wardak, said Fawad Aman, the MoD deputy spokesperson. It was an MI-17 helicopter belonging to the 777 Brigade of the Afghan Air Force, according to the MoD.

Aman did not provide details on what caused the helicopter crash.  An investigation is underway to find out the cause of this helicopter crash, he said.
