KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – The Embassy of Japan in Kabul has announced that applications are now open for the 2026 academic year scholarship for Afghan students seeking higher education in research-level programs.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the embassy said the application and written exam process will be carried out in coordination with the Aga Khan Foundation in Afghanistan.
The deadline for submitting applications is May 31.
These scholarships are provided by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
The embassy has not indicated how many Afghan students will be selected.
Japan has offered similar opportunities to Afghan students in previous years as part of its ongoing commitment to educational support.
