Taliban gunmen have been accused of killing a young Panjshiri man in Kabul on Friday, August 2, after luring him with a meeting through a false promise, sources confirmed to KabulNow.
The victim, identified as only Ramin, was shot dead by five Taliban gunmen while he was on his way to offer evening prayer in Sarsabzi intersection in the capital, one of Ramin’s relatives said.
He originally hailed from Panjshir province north of Kabul.
“They called Ramin for a meeting pretending to know him,” the source indicated, referring to the call as a trap. “Ramin came across these men and they opened fire at him from inside a vehicle.”
The victim was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, including one to his chest, one to his neck, and another to his abdomen, the source added.
The assistants, the source said, were Taliban members from Kapisa, Panjshir, and Baghlan provinces.
The victim was buried the next day in a cemetery.
The source said the killing could have been carried out due to personal enmity, indicating the victim’s father sold weapons before the Taliban stormed to power nearly three years ago.
Taliban authorities in Kabul have not commented on this matter.
