Six-year-old girl from Afghanistan found dead in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan

The body of a six-year-old girl from Afghanistan was found in a sugarcane field on the outskirts of Peshawar, Pakistan, on Wednesday.

According to Pakistani media The Express Tribune, the girl’s relatives reported her missing on Tuesday. The police filed a missing report, withholding her identity to prevent further distress to her family.

Pakistani Police found her body about 12 hours after the report was filed. Initial reports suggest that the girl had been raped and killed.

This is the second incident in two days in which the bodies of children from Afghanistan have been found in Pakistan. On Tuesday, the body of an eight-year-old boy was found in Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The motive for the killings is not yet clear. Pakistani authorities have launched an investigation.
