Man shot dead in Parwan province amid rise in murder rate

Local Taliban officials in eastern Parwan province have reported that unknown gunmen shot and killed a 46-year-old man in Kohi Safi district.

Kamran Zaid, the spokesman of the Taliban security command in Parwan, stated that the incident took place on Monday afternoon, at around 3:00 pm, in the village of Baetz Khel. The victim, identified as Mohammad Saber, was shot while he was working on his farmland.

The motive behind the murder remains unclear. However, Taliban officials have initiated an investigation into the incident.

The surge in murders, often attributed to “mysterious” killings across the country, has raised concerns about the security situation in Afghanistan. The Taliban has been struggling to maintain law and order since it took control of the country in August 2021.
