Traffic accidents kill 3 and injure 260 people in Herat province

Traffic accidents killed three people and injured 260 others in the western Herat province during Eid days, Taliban officials have said.

According to Abdul Jalil Rasouli, head of a district hospital in Herat, the figure of casualties was gathered from several hospitals in Herat city as well as other districts.

At least three people were killed as a result of a traffic accident in the Pashtun Pal area in the Guzara district on the first day of the Eid, Rasouli told KabulNow.

Most of the injured taken to nearby hospitals for treatment were discharged, he added.

These traffic incidents highlight the ongoing challenges related to road safety in Afghanistan, including poor road conditions, drivers’ negligence and non-compliance with driving regulations which contribute to occurrences of traffic accidents.
