Traffic accident kills young man in Balkh province

Taliban security officials in northern Balkh province reported a traffic accident in Sholgara district on Sunday morning.

The victim, identified as Nawidullah, was a resident of Mazar-i-Sharif, and was run over by a car while crossing the street in Sorb Asiyab village.

According to the spokesperson of the Taliban security command in Balkh, the driver of the car has been apprehended by the group’s security forces, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Traffic accidents have increased in Afghanistan in recent months. Poor road conditions, driver carelessness, and non-compliance with traffic regulations are some of the main factors that contribute to traffic accidents in the country.
