The Taliban in Badakhshan province says its police forces have killed two people for alledged robbery on the provincial capital, Faizabad highway.
Taliban police opened fire at five armed men who were attempting to rob passengers in the Eshkashan area of Argo district, killing two while three others managed to escape, said Mazuddin Ahmadi, the Taliban’s provincial head of information and culture.
Taliban police seized two AK-47 rifles from the armed men, Ahmadi added.
However, Ahmadi did not provide further information about the incident. And it is unclear whether the victims were robbers.
Since returning to power, the group has been engaged in large-scale persecution of opponents and former government officials through detentions, torture and extra-judicial killings.
