Afghanistan won the 2023 ODI series against Bangladesh by 2-1, lifting the series trophy for the first time ever series win in Bangladesh.
The final match was played on Tuesday at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram, where Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan by seven wickets after displaying a stunning performance. However, Afghanistan had already taken the series home by outclassing Bangladesh in the first two matches.
Afghanistan’s batting collapsed in the third ODI after scoring 126 runs on the scoreboard. Bangladesh easily chased the target and won the match after Afghanistan displayed poor bowling.
Bangadesh’s Shoriful Islam was declared the Player of the Match for taking four wickets and giving 21 runs in nine overs.
Afghanistan’s Fazal Haq Farooqi, who took eight wickets in the series, was awarded the Player of the Series.
After winning the ODI series against Bangladesh, Afghanistan will now brace to begin their T20I series against Bangladesh scheduled on July 14 in Sylhet.
