Woman shot dead in Jowzan as murder wave continues across Afghanistan

A 35-year-old woman has been shot dead by an unknown assailant in Sheberghan, the capital of the northern province of Jowzjan province.

According to Sattar Halimi, the Taliban’s spokesperson in the province, the woman, identified as Taza Gul, was shot and killed on Tuesday at around 6 pm a Guzar village in outskirts of the city.

The assailant escaped the scene, the Taliban official said.

Halimi added that the motive behind the killing is unclear and the authorities are investigating it.

Afghanistan has seen a sharp increase in murders, with at least 9 women reported to be killed under mysterious circumstances in the past month.
