Taliban helicopter crash kills two pilots in Samangan province

The Taliban has confirmed the crash of one of the helicopters it captured from the previous Afghan government in Samangan province, resulting in the death of the two pilots onboard.

Taliban military helicopter crashed in the Khulm district of northern Samangan province, resulting in the loss of two pilot’s lives, the group’s Ministry of Defence confirmed.

The group said that the MD-530 helicopter crashed on Sunday morning after colliding with an electric pole in the Sighanchi area of Khulm district, Samangan province, during a routine patrol.

The group has not given details on whether anyone else were harmed.

MD-530 were widely used by Afghanistan’s air force during the previous government, which fell into the Taliban’s hands. The group claims to have made many aircrafts and military vehicles operational.
