Taliban rules out girls’ secondary education until Sharia conditions are met

Taliban Education Minister, Habibullah Agha, said on Wednesday that conditions are not right for girls to get educated beyond primary school.

The Taliban banned girls from secondary education in just over a month after retaking power in August 2021, which was extended to universities and other educational and vocational centres in December last year.

Habibullah Agha, speaking during a visit in Panjshir, said that ” You know the situation and culture of Afghanistan. At the moment, the conditions are not right.”

The Taliban minister did not specify when and if the conditions will be put right, and or what those conditions are.
