Taliban commander assassinated in Samangan province

A senior Taliban commander in Samangan province, Abdul Hameed, was assassinated by unidentified assailants on Tuesday.

Abdul Hameed, targeted in the provincial capital, Aybak, was the group’s “Criminal Investigation Commander” inDara-i-Sufi Payin district.

A source inside the group’s security command in Samangan province confirmed the death of Abdul Hameed, but did not provide further details.

No individual or group has taken responsibility of the Taliban commander’s assassination.
