Unknown drone strikes a village in Takhar province

Sources in the Chal district of Takhar province have told KabulNow that an unidentified drone hit a target in an area between Takhar and Baghlan provinces at around 6:30 AM on Monday.

A source who didn’t want to be named said it it remains unknown as to who the drone belonged and why the area, known as Shira Va Mandara, was bombed. ‌But the source added that fighters loyal to a local anti-Taliban commander and the National Resistance Front, led by Ahmad Massoud, have had a presence there in recent months.

Residents confirmed of hearing a loud noise in the area.

The Taliban has not commented. But the group has often complained of the US and Pakistani drones flying over Afghanistan unimpeded.
