Taliban detain alleged ISKP members after a fierce clash in Nimruz

Sources in the southwestern Nimruz province confirmed to KabulNow that the Taliban forces have arrested a man and two women after a fierce armed clash during a raid on a hideout of the Islamic State – Khurasan Province (ISKP) in Zaranj, capital city of Nimruz.

A local source detailed that light and heavy weaponry were used during the firefight in Ganj residential neighborhood of Zaranj earlier on Sunday, adding that the clash has ended with the Taliban arresting three ISKP members.

No details were immediately available regarding the possible casualties as a result of the armed clash between the two sides.

Local Taliban authorities have not commented regarding the raid so far.

This comes only five days after another deadly clash was reported between the Taliban and ISKP members in the same city last Monday. Sources had confirmed to KabulNow that 10 ISKP members and two Taliban fighters were reportedly killed during the firefight.

Afghanistan has witnessed increasing armed and deadly encounters between the Taliban and ISKP fighters in some of its provinces in recent months. Same clashes were reported in Balkh, Herat, and Parwan provinces over the past few days.

In some cases, particularly in Parwan, locals later claimed that the Taliban forces have killed civilians and former military forces in the name of ISKP members.
