Dozens of Turkmen and Uzbek women in northern Afghanistan have donated their gold and silver jewelleries to victims of the recent earthquakes in Turkey.
The Turkish consulate general in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, Samih Lütfi Turgut, told Anadolu news agency that despite difficult economic conditions in Afghanistan, Turkmen and Uzbek women in the provinces of Balkh, Kunduz, and Jawzjan had demonstrated a remarkable act of generosity and solidarity with the victims in his country.
The recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria have resulted in over 50,000 casualties, with many more injured, displaced, and missing.
