Taliban in Panjshir detain four civilians on charges of cooperation with NRF

Sources in the north-eastern Panjshir province confirmed to KabulNow that the Taliban forces have arrested four civilians on charges of cooperating with the anti-Taliban National Resistance Front (NRF) militia in Paryan district of the province.

These sources identified the detainees as Nassrat, Rahim, Rahm Khuda, and Dadullah who were detained four days earlier by the Taliban in the district.

Meanwhile, these sources detailed that one of the detainees was a teacher and the three others were all farmers with no connections to the NRF.

The Taliban have detained tens of locals in Panjshir for alleged cooperation with the NRF militia group which was established by Ahmad Masoud, son of the former Jihadi commander Ahmad Shah Masoud, shortly after the Taliban recaptured Kabul in August 2021.

The militia is mainly formed of former Afghan security forces and has so far fought some deadly battles against the Taliban in Panjshir and Baghlan provinces. It has also expanded its guerrilla attacks and operations into Takhar and Badakhshan provinces.

Paryan district of Panjshir which shares border with four other provinces is of strategic importance for both, the Taliban and the NRF.
