Taliban detain five men in Panjshir province

The Taliban has detained five men in the Darah district of Panjshir province. Abdul Latif, Ghazi, Mujeeb, Amir Hamza, and Ahmadsiar are accused of having weapons in their possessions.

A local source told KabulNow that Abdul Latif and Ghazi were former members of the Afghan military who had submitted all their weapons to the Taliban. The other three were civilians with no military connections.

The source confirms the two soldiers had already surrendered their weapons to the Taliban, but the group is forcing them to deliver. The remaining detainees are not military or connected to Taliban opponents.

The Taliban has been widely accused detention and extrajudicial killings of civilians and members of the armed anti-Taliban group National Resistance Front (NRF) members.
