Seven members of a family found dead in Afghanistan’s Balkh province

Seven members of a single family, including women and children, found mysteriously dead in Chamtal district of Afghanistan’s northern Balkh province, said Mohammad Asif Waziri, spokesperson for Taliban police in Balkh. The family members, he said, were shot dead on Friday night.

The motive behind the mysterious massacre is still unknown and the Taliban police have already started investigating the incident, the Taliban official added.

Contrary to Taliban’s claim of ensuring security across Afghanistan, the country, particularly Balk province, has been witnessing a dramatic increase in criminal cases ever since the group retook the power in August 2021.

As lately as last week, two men were shot dead by unknown armed men in the northern province.
