Pakistan security forces kill 12 TTP fighters linked to Afghanistan

The Pakistani military has said it has killed 12 Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) fighters in an operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Tuesday.

In a statement, reported by Dawn newspaper, the Pakistani intelligence agents lured in [TTP fighters] by providing a vehicle for escape that was intercepted and neutralised.” The militants, the statement said, carried weapons, ammunition, and Afghan currency.

Pakistan has previously accused the Taliban in Afghanistan of providing sanctuaries for TTP fighters operate from, and has directly appealed to the group’s supreme leader, Mullah Hibatullah Akhudzada, to control the Pakistani militants.
