Fear of car bomb attack shuts Saudi embassy in Kabul

Saudi Arabia closed its embassy in Kabul last Thursday amid threats of a car-bomb attack by the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP), reports the Times newspaper.

According to a Saudi foreign ministry official, quoted in the Times newspaper, ISKP was planning to attack the Saudi embassy in Kabul with a car bomb. Reuters reports that the Saudis left “due to warnings of heightened risks of attacks in the Afghan capital Kabul.”

The Taliban said Riyadh had called its diplomats for “a kind of training, and will return.”
